Nelson Brown of browns finalist for Scottish Hairdresser of the Year 2008

Nelson Brown of browns salon in Dumfries is one of the six regional finalists for the Scottish Hairdresser of the Year Award in the 2008 British Hairdressing Awards.
The British Hairdressing Awards, launched in 1984 by Hairdressers Journal International and sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, have celebrated and rewarded the best of British hairdressing creativity for the past 24 years and have fast become the ‘Oscars’ of the hairdressing world.
To enter the competition, hairdressers working in salons throughout the United Kingdom have to submit four images, which fulfil the criteria. Nelson entered the Scottish Hairdresser of the Year category and has secured a place in the final of the Awards. He will now have to submit another four images, which will be judged along with the first four by industry experts, members of the British Hairdressing Awards Hall of Fame and hair journalists from only the most influential, and fashion aware consumer magazines.
“Each year the standard of entries in each category becomes more creative and inspirational,” comments Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Hairdressers Journal International, Jayne Lewis-Orr. “British hairdressing is perceived throughout the world as being the best, and the British Hairdressing Awards recognise and reward creativity and excellence in hairdressing skills. Nelson is a very worthy finalist.”
Nelson will have to wait until Monday 24th November 2008, to find out if he will be awarded the title of Scottish Hairdresser of the Year, when he attends a glittering awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel London. The winners of the fifteen specialist and regional categories, and the prestigious British Hairdresser of the Year Award, will be made by a leading media personality.
Finalist, Nelson added, “ I was delighted when I received my letter telling me I had made it to the finals. This year has been an incredible one for the salon. To be recognised by your peers as being one of the country's leading hairdressers and being involved in the British Hairdressing Awards is both a wonderful feeling and a great achievement."
